CBP Seeks Comments on Bonded Whse Proprietor's Submission (Form 300)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is requesting a 30-day extension of the comment period to June 1, 2012, on its request for comments on an existing information collection, the Bonded Warehouse Proprietor's Submission (CBP Form 300). CBP proposes to extend the expiration date of this information collection with no change to the burden hours or to CBP Form 300. The request ran in the Federal Register May 2, 2012.

CBP Form 300 Used by CBP to Evaluate Warehouse Activity for the Year

CBP Form 300 is filed annually by each warehouse proprietor and is used by CBP to evaluate warehouse activity for the year. This form must be filed within 45 days of the end of the business year, pursuant to the provisions of the Tariff Act of 1930, as amended, 19 U.S.C. 66, 1311,1555, 1556, 1557, 1623 and 19 CFR 19.12(5). The information collected on this form helps CBP determine all bonded merchandise that was entered, released and manipulated in the warehouse.

CBP Estimates 1,800 Respondents, 25 Hours Per Response

CBP estimates there will be 1,800 respondents, and 1 response per respondent. The time per response is estimated to be 25 hours. CBP estimates the total annual burden hours will be 45,000.

Comments Requested on Ways to Minimize Burden, Etc.

CBP is asking for comments from the general public and other Federal agencies on (a) whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency’s estimates of the burden of the collection of information; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; (d) ways to minimize the burden including the use of automated collection techniques or the use of other forms of information technology; and (e) the annual costs burden to respondents or record keepers from the collection of information (a total capital/startup costs and operations and maintenance costs).
