CBP Summarizes ACE Timeline for 2012 and Beyond
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a short, summarized timeline of ACE trade functionality that spans the years 2003 through 2012 and beyond.

For 2012, CBP states it will add functionality for the Document Image System (DIS) and the PGA Message Set. CBP will also initiate the development of ACE cargo release. With respect to the manifest, in 2012 CBP will complete the deployment of e-Manifest: Ocean and Rail and develop export manifest requirements.
For the future, CBP states that additional entry summary types will be added to the Automated Commercial Environment. Remote Location Filing (RLF) functions will also be added, as well as reconciliation, protest, liquidation, drawback, and e-Bond. The air manifest, export manifest, and multi-modal manifest (MMM) will be added as well.
