John Walter said in the order. In April, several movie studios filed a complaint against Zediva for copyright infringement concerning the movies made available through the service. The ruling follows a previous order directing the parties to draw up a preliminary injunction (WID Aug 3 p2). Zediva’s operators agreed to pay $1.8 million to the studios, MPAA said in a press release. The ruling sends a strong message “to those who would exploit the studios’ works in violation of copyright law, on the Internet or elsewhere,” the association said.
