Italy Recalls Proposal on "Made in Italy" Textiles, Leather Goods, Shoes
According to the Office of Textiles and Apparel, the Italian Government has recalled its recently proposed requirements regarding the sale of textile products, leather goods and footwear, including use of the “Made in Italy” designation.

Had Proposed Labeling, Tracing & “Made in Italy” Changes to Take Effect Jan 1
In November 2010, OTEXA announced that Italy had issued and was seeking comment on a draft decree, "Provisions for the Sale of Textile Products, Leather Goods and Footwear," that proposed new requirements for the sale of such merchandise, including certain labeling and tracing requirements and conditions on the use of the indication “Made in Italy.” The proposed date of entry into force had been January 1, 2011.

Italy Expected to Announce New Proposal
According to OTEXA sources, the Italian authorities have told the World Trade Organization (WTO) that they will announce a new proposal on the matter.
