Senators Criticize Russia on Lack of Action in Resuming U.S. Poultry Imports
Senator Lincoln (D), Chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, and Ranking Member Chambliss (R), pressed the Russian government to fulfill their commitment to reopen their markets to U.S. poultry imports in a joint letter sent to Russian Ambassador Kislyak.

The U.S. and Russia signed an agreement on June 24, 2010 that would result in resumption of U.S. poultry exports to Russia within weeks. In spite of the agreement, officials of the Russian Veterinary Service will now require the re-inspection of U.S. poultry processing plants before restoring their eligibility to export product to Russia under the new pathogen reduction treatments regime, representing yet another obstacle to resumption of trade.
