Administration Issues 2010 Strategic Plan for Intellectual Property Enforcement
On June 22, 2010, the White House Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator issued the Administration’s “2010 Joint Strategic Plan on Intellectual Property Enforcement.”

This report was required by the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act (PRO-IP Act), which directed the IPEC to coordinate the development of a Joint Strategic Plan against counterfeiting and infringement. To prepare this Joint Strategic Plan, the IPEC worked closely across numerous Federal agencies and departments and with significant input from the public.
IPR Enforcement Strategy “Action Items”
The IPEC identified a number of actions the Federal government will take to enhance the protection of U.S. IPR including:
Secure supply chains - secure supply chains to stem the flow of infringing products at U.S. borders and through enhanced cooperation with the private sector;
Improve data, info collection - improve data and information collection from intellectual property-related activity and continuously assess domestic and foreign laws and enforcement activities to maintain an open, fair and balanced environment for American intellectual property right holders.
Improve law enforcement coordination, efficiency - improve coordination and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement efforts at the Federal, state and local level, of personnel stationed overseas and of the U.S. Government’s international training efforts;
Work with trading partners - work with U.S. trading partners and with international organizations to better enforce U.S. IPR in the global economy;
Lead by example - lead by example and will work to ensure that the Federal government does not purchase or use infringing products; and
Support transparency - support transparency in the development of enforcement policy, information sharing and reporting of law enforcement activities at home and abroad;
