President Announces Intent to Nominate John Pistole to Head TSA

On May 17, 2010, the President announced his intent to nominate John S. Pistole to lead the Transportation Security Administration. (Pistole currently serves as Deputy Director of the FBI.) The President’s first two nominations to head TSA were withdrawn.

Trade-Related Bills Introduced on May 13, 2010

On May 13, 2010, the following trade-related bills were introduced:

GHG EmissionsH.R. 5294. A bill to prevent Federal agencies from regulating greenhouse gas emissions for purposes of addressing climate change without express and specific statutory authority, and for other purposes
Aviation SmugglingH.R. 5307. A bill to amend the Tariff Act of 1930 to include ultralight aircraft under the definition of aircraft for purposes of the aviation smuggling provisions under that Act
US Gov’t procurementH.R. 5312. A bill to limit the total value of Chinese goods that may be procured by the United States Government during a calendar year to not more than the total value of United States goods procured by the Chinese Government if any during the preceding calendar year, and for other purposes
