Foreign Relations Committee Leaders Urge Progress on Korea FTA

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D) and Ranking Member Dick Lugar (R) sent a letter to the Administration on May 10, 2010 calling for the timely resolution of outstanding issues related to the U.S.-South Korea free trade agreement. Senators Kerry and Lugar argue that it is in the best economic and strategic interest of the U.S. to strengthen ties with its allies.

Referral Agreement Reached in Burma Freedom and Democracy Act

A unanimous-consent agreement was reached providing that the Committee on Foreign Relations be discharged from further consideration of S.J. Res. 29, approving the renewal of import restrictions contained in the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act of 2003, and the bill then be referred to the Committee on Finance.
