The Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted Chairman Tenenbaum's remarks at a recent DRI product liability conference. Among other things, she stated that the Web page for the publicly available consumer product safety database called "SaferProducts.gov" has been activated to help track and preview the database's development before its March 2011 launch. 2. FDA Reopens Comments on DEHP Levels in Bottled Water

The Food and Drug Administration is reopening until June 1, 2010 the comment period for the proposed rule, published in the August 4, 1993 Federal Register, which proposed to amend the quality standard for bottled water in 21 CFR 165.110(b). FDA now seeks further comment on finalizing the allowable level for DEHP. 3. FDA Announces Workshop on Drug Labeling

The Food and Drug Administration is announcing a public workshop on June 24-25, 2010 entitled "Developing Guidance on Naming, Labeling, and Packaging Practices to Reduce Medication Errors" regarding drug and therapeutic biologic container labels. FDA is also requesting comments to assist in the development of draft guidance. Comments are due by July 23, 2010. 4. FDA Update on Safety of Tricolsan in Soaps, Toothpastes, Cosmetics

The Food and Drug Administration has updated its website with safety information about triclosan, a common ingredient added to many consumer products to reduce or prevent bacterial contamination. It may be found in antibacterial soaps and body washes, toothpastes and some cosmetics—products regulated by the FDA. 5. EPA Proposes to Amend Mandatory GHG Reporting Rule

The Environmental Protection Agency is proposing to amend the Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule to require subject reporters to provide: the name, address, and ownership status of their U.S. parent company; their primary and all other NAICS code(s); and an indication of whether or not any of their reported emissions are from a cogeneration unit. 6. AMS Announces Referendum on Proposed Honey Order

The Agricultural Marketing Service is conducting a referendum on a proposed U.S. Honey Producer Research, Promotion and Consumer Information Order which would provide that certain producers pay an assessment to the honey producers board at $0.02 per pound of U.S. honey produced. 7. DHS Announces Closed Science and Technology Committee Meeting

The Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Advisory Committee will hold a closed meeting April 20-22, 2010 to receive sensitive and classified (Secret-level) briefings and presentations regarding relationships between Science & Technology and selected National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures related topics. 8. ITA Announces Environmental Technologies Meeting

9. BIS Announces Emerging Technologies Meeting

The Bureau of Industry and Security's Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee will meet April 26-27, 2010 in Washington, DC to discuss development of a guiding principles document; the emerging technologies analysis process by NAS; and technology risk analysis, among other things. 10. Canada Answers U.S. Questions on Vessel, Textile/Apparel Programs

The World Trade Organization has posted Canadian replies to U.S. questions on certain of its initiatives. Among other things, Canada states there is no requirement that goods under its program to encourage Canadian built vessels be purchased only from Canada and that companies do not need to be exporters to qualify under its program to help the Canadian textile and apparel industry "develop and implement global strategies." 11. ASEAN-Australia-NZ FTA Enters Into Force for Certain Countries

The World Trade Organization has posted a notification by Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam regarding the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area and its January 1, 2010 entry into force for certain members and delayed entry date for others. 12. WCO Announces New Business and Customs Training Center in Brasilia

World Customs Organization Secretary General Mikuriya participated in the opening ceremony of the Regional Training Centre in Brasilia on April 6, 2010. The article states that the new RTC symbolizes that Brazil had moved from a student of the global Customs community to an active partner. 13. CBSA Makes Final Dumping Determination on U.S. Insulation Board

On April 6, 2010, the Canada Border Services Agency made a final determination of dumping for faced rigid cellular polyurethane-modified polyisocyanurate thermal insulation board (HS 3921.13.99.10) originating in or exported from the U.S. The investigation reveals that 97.8% of the goods were dumped by approximately 21.9%. 14. CITT Hearing on Whether Flags and Banners are Classified in Chapter 63 or 49

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will hold a public hearing on May 6, 2010 to consider Future Product Sales Inc.'s appeal on whether flags, banners and car antenna flags are properly classified under 6307.90.99 as other made up articles of other textile materials, or under 4911.99.90 as other printed matter, including printed pictures and photographs.
