CPSC to Hold March 17 Open Meeting on Toddler Bed & Bassinet Proposed Rules

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that it will hold an open meeting on March 17, 2010 in Bethesda, MD to discuss two durable infant and toddler product proposed rules, one on toddler beds and the other on bassinets.

(The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) requires CPSC to develop mandatory safety standards for certain durable infant and toddler products (including toddler beds and bassinets), either by making the existing voluntary safety standard mandatory or by providing a stricter mandatory standard. Proposed Rule on Toddler Beds

The Commissioners will again consider a proposed rule on toddler beds, which is pending decision by the Commission.

Proposed Rule on Bassinets

During the meeting, the Commissioners will also consider a proposed rule on bassinets.
