ITA Requests Comments on 2009 Calculation of "Expected NME Wages" for AD Proceedings

The International Trade Administration has issued a notice requesting comments on its 2009 calculation of expected non-market economy (NME) wages for use as the surrogate value for direct labor in antidumping proceedings involving NME countries.

Comments are due by October 16, 2009.

The ITA states that the 2009 calculation of expected NME wages used 2007 data in accordance with the ITA's revised methodology for calculating expected NME wages in AD proceedings involving NME countries. Comments Requested on Clerical Errors

The ITA is requesting public comment only on the potential clerical errors in the calculation. Comments with regard to the October 2006 revised methodology will not be considered.

In order to facilitate a full opportunity for comment, and because the underlying data is voluminous, the preliminary results and underlying data for the preliminary 2009 expected NME wages calculation are expected to be posted on its Web site at http://www.ia.ita.doc.gov. The preliminary calculation will not be used for AD purposes until it has been finalized by the ITA following the public comment period.
