The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls' in-house training seminar originally scheduled for Thursday, September 18th has been changed to Wednesday, September 17th. 3. CITA Extends Deadline for Its Consideration of DR-CAFTA Commercial Availability Request
The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements has extended for one day (to 11:59 p.m. on August 20th) its deadline for receiving an "offer to supply" on a DR-CAFTA commercial availability request it received on behalf of Badger Sportswear, Inc. regarding certain three yarn circular knit stretch fleece classifiable under HTS subheading 6001.21.00. CITA sources state that this extension was needed as a Guatemalan company was having problems transmitting its offer. 5. Commerce Department Features New Spanish Newsroom
In advance of the second Americas Competitiveness Forum that was to kick off in Atlanta, Ga. on August 17th, the Commerce Department Web site now features a Spanish newsroom with press releases, opinion editorials and speeches that have been translated. The newsroom replaces a separate Spanish Web site that had previously been maintained. 6. U.S., Mexico to Use ATF Project Gunrunner, eTrade to Stop Illegal Gun Flow
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reports that the U.S. and Mexico have agreed to use the ATF programs called Project Gunrunner and eTrade to help stop the flow of illegal guns into Mexico. 7. U.S. Uruguay TIFA Coordinators Meet
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative reports that Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Coordinators from the U.S. and Uruguay recently met in Atlanta to continue work under the TIFA. 8. CBSA Fact Sheet on Testing, Ventilation of Marine Containers

9. CBSA Starts Investigations into Dumping, Subsidizing of Aluminum Extrusions from China
The CBSA announced the initiation of investigations into the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain aluminum extrusions originating in or exported from China. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will now begin a preliminary inquiry to determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers. The Tribunal will issue a decision by October 17, 2008. While the Tribunal is examining the question of injury, the CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being dumped and/or subsidized and will make a decision by November 17, 2008.
