CBP CSMS Messages and Web Postings
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a Truck Manifest CSMS message with an attachment providing further guidance on the upcoming April 5, 2008 ACE e-Manifest update that will give truck carriers (and customs brokers) the capability to arrive in-bonds at destination by equipment (trailer/container, etc.), export in-bonds that have previously arrived by in-bond bills of lading and container/equipment, and to cancel in-bond arrivals and exports.

2. CBP Posts Updated ACE Application
CBP has posted an updated version of its ACE application.
Based on a comparison of a November 2007 version and the revised version, the following substantive changes were noted:
Indicate if application is submitted as a change to an active account: CBP's revised application now includes a box for the filer to indicate if this is a change to an active account, and if so, provide specifics on the change.
Date of birth: Under Section A (Account Information), there is now space to provide the Company Officer's date of birth. Also, under Section B, Part 1 (Account Owner Designation, Individual) there is space to include the date of birth of an individual account owner.
Driver/crew must submit travel documentation, CDL information: There is now a section under the Driver/crew section for the applicants to submit travel documentation and Commercial Driver's License information.

4. Other CBP Postings and Messages
The following have also been issued by CBP:
NJ, NY officers seize potentially dangerous toys. CBP has issued a news release announcing that CBP officers at the Jersey City, NJ bulk mail facility intercepted several shipments of Kinder chocolate eggs that contained a surprise toy within a plastic capsule determined to be a risk for swallowing by children. CBP advises travelers to anticipate heavy traffic along border. CBP has issued a news release announcing that travelers planning trips across the border to make sure they have the proper documents and to anticipate heavy traffic along the U.S.-Canada border.
