Instead of Dayton rancher Mike Taylor (R) winning the seat by 53 votes, the final unofficial tally showed Helena state Sen. Ken Toole (D) the victor by 107 votes. Taylor said he will request a recount, paid for by the state since the margin is under 200 votes. Taylor can’t file for a recount until Nov. 27, the deadline for the secretary of state to certify vote counts.
