LucasArts Entertainment’s Star Wars Battlefront II on multiple platforms moved up 5 notches in its 2nd week to become the #1-selling game in the U.K., according to the ELSPA’s ChartTrack data for the week ended Nov. 5. - last week’s top seller -- dropped to #3 in its 3rd week… The PS2 version of the Star Wars game became the top-rented videogame in the U.S. during its first week, according to Rentrak’s preliminary Home Video Essentials data for the week ended Nov. 6. The Xbox version was #2. The only other new game in the top 10 was EA’s Battlefield: Modern Combat at #8. The PS2 version of Take-Two’s The Warriors -- last week’s #1 SKU - dropped to #5… The Star Wars game also had a strong showing for U.S. online rental service GameFly, which said the Xbox version was its top-rented game the week ended Nov. 7. The PS2 version was #2. EA’s Modern Combat for Xbox - last week’s #1 rental -- dropped out of the top 10… Microsoft’s Age of Empires III was again the best-selling PC game in the U.S., according to NPD Group data for the week ended Oct. 29. Activision had 3 titles in the top 10: Call of Duty 2 at #3, Quake 4 at #5 (down 3) and Call of Duty Collector’s Edition at #8. Take-Two, Vivendi Universal Games (VUG) and EA each had 2 titles in the top 10. Take-Two’s were Civilization IV at #2 and Civilization IV Special Edition at #4. VUG’s were F.E.A.R. at #6 (down 3) and World of Warcraft at #9 (down 2). EA’s were The Sims 2 Nightlife Expansion Pack at #7 (down one) and The Sims 2 at #9 (up one).
