The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued a notice announcing the availability of "Notify U.S.," a free, web-based e-mail service that offers U.S. citizens, industries and organizations an opportunity to review and comment on proposed foreign technical regulations that can affect their businesses and their access to international markets.

Export Compliance Daily combines U.S. export control news, foreign border import regulation and policy developments into a single daily information service that reliably informs its trade professional readers about important current issues affecting their operations.
Information will also be offered regarding conformity assessment procedures from foreign governments that might influence U.S. exports.
NIST states that this new web service provides users with access to notifications and full texts of regulations issued by the World Trade Organization (WTO) members.
Additionally, users can monitor proposed changes across chosen countries and 41 fields of industrial or technical activities, or they can select a sub-set of fields.
According to NIST, the service is operated by NIST's National Center for Standards and Classification Information (NCSCI), which is the designated U.S. Inquiry Point under the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).
NIST adds that "Notify U.S." is the successor to Export Alert!, an e-mail service for proposed technical regulations that was previously offered by NIST.
Additional information on "Notify U.S.," or to sign up for the service, is available at www.nist.gov/notifyus.
