3. DHS and German Interior Ministry Co-Host Cyber Security Conference

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a press release announcing that on October 20- 22, 2004 it co-hosted a multilateral conference on international cyber security cooperation with the German Interior Ministry in Berlin. The conference included delegations from 15 countries and represented a significant collaborative effort on the need for an international framework for cyber information sharing and incident response. 4. U.S. and Russia Conclude Discussions on Russia's IPR Protection Efforts

The Washington Trade Daily (WTD) reports that two days of technical discussions between the U.S. and Russia on the latter's intellectual property rights (IPR) protection efforts concluded on October 26, 2004. The WTD reports that both sides said progress has been made in elevating the importance of IPR protection in Russia; however, U.S. officials say Russia's enforcement is still lacking.
