According to Census, companies may begin submitting live data using the new AES Commodity Redesign format immediately. Census notes that all preliminary signs show that the enhancements to the redesigned AES have gone smoothly.
(The AES Production Region had not been expected to open until 6:01 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 8, 2004. Census had previously stated that during the outage that preceded the implementation of AES Commodity Redesign, the AES queues would be down, thus preventing incoming transmissions from being received and outgoing messages from being generated.)
Census notes that those companies anticipating the outage to last the maximum of 78 hours may continue to report under the Downtime Policy until 6:00 a.m. EDT on June 8, 2004. Census reminds filers that they should begin submitting AES records for those shipments exported during the outage via the Downtime Policy no later than June 8, 2004.
